"Not enough locations for what I needed"
I got Surfshark mainly because I wanted more server options, but a lot of the locations I actually needed were missing or really limited. I kept bouncing between servers trying to make it work, and it just left me feeling mentally drained. In the end, I still couldn’t get what I was looking for, so I’m disappointed.

So... I signed up because it seemed like a good deal, but then the renewal came through way higher than I was expecting. I really don’t think the price jump was made clear enough when I first paid. When I contacted support, they basically just pointed me to the terms, which wasn’t very helpful. Overall, it left me feeling like the billing wasn’t very upfront.

"Still nooot fully convinced about the no-logs thing"
I’m still nooot totally sure I trust their no-logs claim. Maybe it’s fine, but I just don’t feel completely convinced yet.

I left feeling a bit uneasy about the whole privacy side of things. Maybe it was just how things were handled, but it didn’t exactly feel like they were being as careful with my personal info as they should’ve been...

"Pretty consistent across my devices"
I’ve been using Surfshark on my laptop, Android phone, and iPad, and so far the pattern is pretty much the same everywhere: easy setup, quick to connect, and mostly just works in the background. The apps don’t look exactly alike on each device, which threw me off for a minute, but once I figured out where things were, it was fine. I did run into one connection hiccup on Windows, but a restart sorted it out and it hasn’t become a repeated issue. Overall, I’m happy with it. Solid 4 stars.

I had to spend some time chatting with support before I could cancel, which was more than I expected. It did get sorted out in the end, but it kind of feels like canceling these services is never as quick as you think it’ll be.

"Live chat was a waste of time"
I tried using the live chat for what I thought was a simple question, but I got irritated fast. They kept sending what felt like copy-paste replies, took forever between messages, and still didn’t actually answer me. It really felt like they were just trying to rush me off the chat

"Got too expensive to justify"
It used to feel worth it, but the price has gone up enough that I’m not really convinced anymore. The company can dress it up with all the nice-sounding wording they want, but from my side it just feels like I’m paying more and not getting much extra.

"Kill switch came through for me"
I’ve had the kill switch save me twice now, which gave me a lot more confidence using it. One time it did take a second longer than I expected to kick in, so that made me a little nervous, but it still worked in the end. Overall, it’s been reliable when I needed it.

"Streaming is basically useless"
I tried using it for Netflix and BBC iPlayer, it was hopeless. Half the time it got blocked, and the other half it just sat there loading like it had no clue what it was doing. Support wasn’t much better either, just the same tired basic tips anyone could Google in five seconds. If you want it for streaming, don’t bother

"Had to wait forever for unhelpful support"
I felt like I was being forced to be patient the whole time. I waited way too long for support to get back to me, and when they finally did, the replies were barely useful. it felt like I was just sitting around hoping they’d eventually care enough to help, but they never really did.

"Setup was a hassle and I had to escalate it"
I expected the setup to be straightforward, but it ended up taking way longer than it should have. The install failed twice, and after retrying and getting nowhere, I had to escalate the issue just to get it sorted out. Not exactly the smooth first impression I was hoping for

"Pretty quick most of the time"
The speed has been solid for me. Pages load fast, streaming works without much fuss, and most days I don’t really think about it. Nice. It does slow down a little at night sometimes, but nothing that’s actually bothered me. Fine.

"Couldn’t Use All My Devices"
The Device limit was annoying. I expected to be able to use it on all my stuff, but Nope, hit the limit way too fast. Kind of frustrating.
"Pretty Fair Deal for Streaming Abroad"
I mostly use SurfShark to watch shows that aren’t available in my country, and to be fair, it does the job most of the time. Every now and then I have to switch servers to get something working, which is a little annoying, but I don’t think that’s unreasonable for what I’m paying. Overall, I’m happy with it and feel like it’s been worth it

"The servers I need keep disappearing"
I picked up Surfshark mostly because I needed a few specific server locations, and I started noticing the same pattern quickly: the exact ones I want are either down, stuck loading, or they just fail to connect after a while. Then I end up bouncing around to random countries, which kind of defeats the whole reason I signed up in the first place.
The app itself looks clean and easy enough to use, so at first I thought maybe I was just catching it at bad times. But after seeing it happen over and over, it feels like server availability just isn’t dependable for how I use it. Maybe it’s fine for people who don’t care which location they connect to, but I don’t really want to keep paying for a VPN if the servers I actually need aren’t there when I need them

"Refund took longer than I hoped"
I tried Surfshark for a little while and ended up asking for a refund because I was in a bit of a rush to get it sorted. The refund did come through eventually, but I had to follow up with support more than I expected. Their replies were polite enough, just slower than I would’ve liked, and for a while I wasn’t sure if it was actually being processed. It wasn’t a terrible experience, but I think the refund process could be more reliable and quicker.

"The so-called security setup was a mess"
I didn’t feel great about the security settings. They were confusing to figure out, and the whole thing gave off major “fake safety shield” vibes. Maybe it works fine for some people, but for me it just didn’t feel very secure or trustworthy.

"Decent for torrenting, but support felt a bit all over the place"
It works fine for the most part, and torrenting is okay when the speeds are steady. The only issue is that the speeds drop sometimes, which can get annoying. I also felt a bit passed around when trying to figure things out, like I wasn’t getting a clear answer right away. Overall, it does the job, but it’s not always fast or smooth

Most days it works fine, but every now and then it just randomly drops the connection. It’s not the worst thing ever, but when I’m streaming something or trying to get work done, it makes me feel kind of trapped just waiting for it to come back. Annoying when it happens.
